Onsite Instructor
BISON Transport USA is currently looking for an On-Site Instructor to add to its team!
The On-Site Instructor will work directly at the specified company location within the training department to process, train, and evaluate new and current drivers to ensure they meet our company’s safety and training standards. Responsibilities include delivering driver training in compliance with Bison USA and FMCSA Regulations, assessing and coaching drivers both in the truck and in a classroom environment, maintaining accurate records of all training, and encouraging a positive learning environment. The instructor must be willing to withstand outdoor weather conditions.
Training:
- Instruct incoming inexperienced and experienced drivers on the following skills, including but not limited to backing maneuvers, basic driving skills, in-cab computer, ELD, and company policies and procedures.
- Administer remedial training for post-accident, return to work, and any other situations as directed by management.
Testing:
- Conduct on-road driving tests, skill tests, and other evaluations with drivers to determine if drivers meet company skill standards and Safety, DOT, and FMCSA regulations and requirements.
- Model safe behaviors and professional interactions.
- Use evaluation forms to evaluate the skills of drivers.
- Conduct remedial testing for post-accident, return to work, and any other situations as directed by management.
Other:
- Engage in other projects and activities as necessary to the position and as assigned by your supervisor.
- Participate in and contribute to all other tasks and initiatives as is necessary and as it relates to the goals of the company. (e.g., committees, work, and focus groups).
What Will You Need to Succeed?
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years of age
- Class-A CDL and active Medical Certification required
- Previous training experience with large trucks of a year or more preferred
- Ability to safely operate a class A commercial vehicle with a 53-foot dry van trailer
- Knowledgeable about trip planning, hours of service, vehicle inspections, backing maneuvers, and general safety principles
- Knowledge of electronic logging devices and hours of service rules
- Knowledge DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-task environment
